I've driven by the High Desert Nature Trail several times but had never stopped. There's not really a parking area by the trailhead, so it's not convenient to. In April we decided that it would be a good place to visit after work one day. There's not really a good place to park right at the trailhead, but parking is available to the south at Cochise College, or to the north at a small private school.
The nature trail is a series of signs along a dirt path in between an old railroad grade and a wash on the north side of Cochise College in Sierra Vista. We enjoyed reading and learning about the plants and animals native to the area. The signs and path were created by students at Cochise College, I assume as part of a class project.
We liked these flowers in the wash. Once the monsoons start in July and August, there will be a lot more of them.
