Grist Mill Mine

At the mouth of Farmington Canyon there's a mine located to the north across the creek. It is a very obvious mine, and sees many visitors.

The "Grist Mill Mine" gets its name because it is located just up the hill from the site of an old grist mill.
This is the 2nd deepest mine that I know of above Farmington. It goes straight back in for about 100 feet or so. When we were at the back we could still see the light at the entrance.

Down below, you can still see the headgates along the creek for the grist mill.

  1. I would love to visit this mine, sadly I don't have a GPS. Where did you park your car when you went to this mine?

  2. Park your car at the mouth of the canyon. There's a few pullouts. Or you could park at the Farmington Pond and walk up the road to it. The mine is visible from the road and there are several social trails down to the creek. Hop across the creek and follow the trail up the tailings pile and you're there.
