Sunflowers- a musical tribute

Friday we had a nice drive out to Ault-"A Unique Little Town" that's about 20 miles east of Fort Collins. We really liked the town and most of the drive out was really pretty. In addition to fields of hay and corn, several fields along the way are full of sunflowers. Not just your everyday side-of-the-road sunflowers, but go-big-or-go-home sunflowers. Wow- our eyes got really big because we'd never seen such fields of beautiful sunflowers on a rainy day. The closest we'd seen was mom's garden back home, but the sunflowers there aren't as big as these ones and there aren't nearly as many there as in this field. (The ones in her garden come in other colors then yellow though- if you haven't seen them you should). So of course we had to stop and get a few pictures. Ashley wanted to run through them and sing the opening song from "The Sound of Music*" but I talked her out of it. Oh how I love that girl! Life with her is so much fun. So we took a few pictures and got rained on but at least we sang "Singin' in the Rain*" while we were doing it.

Sunflowers!

Look at that clean beautiful smile! (Thanks Dr. Eckhardt)

A bit later on the drive around we saw a cemetary for pets (Oh where, oh where has my little dog gone?) and passed a few fields of really stinky sheep. (Do sheep shrink when they get wet?)

*Songs marked like this were actually neither sung nor thought of, but in the interest of good story telling were added for the entertainment of the reader. The part about running through the fields also may or may not be ficticious.
