Getting Han Solo'd

Remember the part in the first Star Wars films where Han Solo gets "frozen" in the block of bronze? We got to go to a park that's full of creatures just like that! It's kinda crazy! Ok, not really. They're not really frozen, but instead it's a park full of sculptures.

The Benson Sculpture Park is in Loveland- about 15 minutes away from our house. They have bulls, moose, wolves, sea lions, cowboys, indians, children playing ring-around-the-rosy, flower girls, and more!

How 'bout them cowgirls!

Most of the sculptures were really cool- like the sculptures in the pictures we posted. There were a few that were "out there" and modernistic looking, but the vast majority of the sculptures were well done. Of course a few of the sculptures needed clothes, but it takes all types, and we skipped those ones.

Speaking of modern art- Modern art that requires some level of "interpretation" is lost on me. Instead of beauty, I see something that says the artist got tired of trying to make something praiseworthy so he jumbled everything together and thought he'd pull one over on people and call it "art". There definitely needs to be a standard made for some creations to qualify as art.

*We did not see any signs asking us to refrain from climbing on the sculptures. If there were, we apologize and regret our actions. If this is a prosecutable offense, we hope the statue of limitations is up! (for the grammar police out there- we intentionally put statue instead of statute there).
