Zion Canyon Trails

We drove up Zion Canyon to try some of the hikes. Unfortunately, we soon discovered that most of them were closed due to snow and icy conditions. It was pretty, but somewhat disappointing.

The Virgin River looked pretty as we wandered on the Riverside Walk. The trail under our feet was slightly treacherous.

Overhead, we saw a frozen waterfall.

Just past the frozen waterfall, halfway to to the end of the trail, the trail was closed. Weeping Rock, Emerald Pools, and several of the other trails were also closed.
One short side trip was not closed. Menu Falls is not shown on any of the park maps. It's located between the Temple of Sinawava and Weeping Rock, on the south side of the road. We parked the car and walked 100 feet to look at the little waterfall. Zion for us was disappointing because so many of the trails were closed. We've been there other times and had a blast, but this was the first time we'd been in the middle of the winter. We'll definitely be back.
